Welcome to our Site! Our breed is Maremmano-Abruzzese, dogs are called also Maremma, Abruzzo sheepdog, Mastino Abruzzese and Italian mountain dog. In Italy the correct name is il Cane da Pastore Maremmano-Abruzzese. Breed is one of the oldest in the world, Marcus Terentius Varro and Lucius Junius Moderatus Columella have described that kinds of white livestock guarding dogs even first century. It is very unusual that breed is not reconstructed, dogs are really the same like two thousands years ago. Maremmano-Abruzzese is a Livestock guarding dog, mostly it guards sheep against wolves, bears and thieves. It is also used to guard yard as a member of family. This majestic as well as rustic dog is intelligent, sensitive, and very loyal to its own people. The novel "La Storia" by Elsa Morante describes life and friendship of a boy and white sheepdog in Rome during world war second. Our Kennel We live in the middle of the forrest and our family belongs mother, father, four children and three dogs. In our home lives Maremmano-Abruzzese male Tiivi-taavi and female Bellina, and Finnish Lapland dog Ellinoora. Our dogs are living with us, or in other good homes. We do not have cages where to keep dogs, because we want to know how it is to live with them, and how they behave in different situations. Our target is to breed healthy, typical working dogs. |
